São Bento da Vitória Monastery

Monuments and Palaces

The Church and Monastery of São Bento da Vitória were built by Benedictine monks, and completed around 1690.

The project was drawn up by the architect Diogo Marques. His style is classic with baroque touches. Its distinguishing features are the choir decoration, which is one of the best in Portugal, and includes thirty wooden frames embossed with a rococo frame.

From 1990 onwards, it became a stage for cultural events such as the concerts of the Oporto National Orchestra.
